Nadezhda Koshkina runs the private Crisis Center for Women, popularly nicknamed "Cat's House". No one knows that in her youth Nadezhda left her daughter in an orphanage to save her from her biological father, the tyrant Yudin, who had repeatedly raised his hand against Koshkina.

Suffering from the loss of her daughter and unsuccessfully searching for her, Koshkina devotes her life to women who find themselves in a hopeless situation. Among her charges is Natalya Bolshova, a famous TV host of a women's talk show, who, ironically, herself became a victim of domestic violence. In Bolshova's tormentor, Koshkina unexpectedly recognizes... Yudin. Realizing that Koshkina knows too much about him, he decides to destroy both her and the "Koshkin Dom".
