Cultural scientist Svetlana comes to a closed reception at the Petrovsky Travel Palace with her husband, Professor Dremov, and this evening turns out to be fatal for her. Not only does she learn that her beloved husband has been cheating on her for a long time, but she also finds a corpse... of Napoleon. Of course, he is not a real emperor - just an animator in a Bonaparte costume - but he was killed in a very real way. And the worst thing is that Svetlana becomes the main suspect in the crime.

All the troubles fell on her at once: she is facing a divorce and a battle for her child, she loses her job and tries to find a new home, while continuing to try to prove her innocence to the investigator. Thanks to her extensive knowledge, intelligence and observation, Svetlana will be able to unravel a complex crime, at the center of which is the mysterious Black Orlov. And investigator Vadim will understand that he will not find a better partner.

At night, at the gates of the Hermitage Garden, two men try to take out the body of a third, but, frightened by a random passerby, they abandon the body and run away. From subtle signs, Svetlana guesses that the deceased participated in a Masonic ritual.

Vadim does not take this version seriously: the murdered man was a rich man and had many enemies. However, Svetlana bends her line and unravels the intricacies of modern Masonic intrigues. And those people who look like criminals end up being puppets in the hands of others.
