While investigating a fatal accident, young investigator Vera makes a mistake that could cost her career. In an effort to save her protégé from being fired, Lieutenant Colonel Alexandra Romanova gives Vera another case: the murder of a beauty queen committed almost 15 years ago. To help Veronica with the investigation, Romanova assigns her two retired consultants: seasoned detective Fyodor Anatolyevich Bobrykin and brilliant criminologist Grigory Petrovich Sapronov. These detective mastodons are not very familiar with modern methods and technologies, but they know the details of the case well - after all, they were the ones who led it in the past. It is difficult to command veterans, and even more difficult to find a common language with them, they are too different. The only thing that unites them is their long-standing rivalry: both of them have been in love with Lieutenant Colonel Romanova for decades. And friendship, of course. Having suffered with the unyielding, sometimes quarrelsome and sharp-tongued "grandfathers", Vera will become attached to them with all her heart, earn their respect and form an excellent team with them.
