Alya lives in a small seaside town. She is in love with a simple fisherman Ivan, is expecting his child and dreams of getting married soon. But on the wedding day, Ivan does not come to Alya, and soon she learns that he died during an attempted robbery of a warehouse. Under pressure from her mother, Alya leaves for the village to give birth, but the child dies during childbirth. Heartbroken, Alya returns home, where Tolik Kuntsev, the mayor's son, begins to court her. Alya agrees to marry without love. Four years later, Alya learns that Ivan is alive. Ivan tells her that he was forced to flee the city by the Kuntsevs, Alya's husband's family. Alya's feelings for Ivan flare up with renewed vigor, and for his sake she is ready to confront her family. But soon Alya begins to understand that Ivan returned to their city not only for love...
