Four years have passed since Svetlana Somova last crossed paths with a secret society called Golden Blood. Svetlana left the Investigative Committee long ago and now works as an art historian at the Pushkin Museum, but she cannot stop thinking about Golden Blood. She is convinced that sooner or later, Golden Blood will return to her life. And she turns out to be right. Restorer Anastasia Mishina is murdered. During her lifetime, Anastasia searched for new forms of artistic expression, and after her death, at the hands of her killer, she herself becomes a work of art. What drove the deranged artist? The desire to create a masterpiece or more ordinary motives such as jealousy or greed? Trying to answer these questions, Investigative Committee officer Ksenia Subbotina turns to Anastasia's former colleague, Svetlana Somova, for help. Together, they discover that Anastasia herself once used a living person for an art installation.
